This ancient Ayurvedic treatment is a deeply relaxing health-care modality, which balances the body, mind and spirit and at the same time is revitalizing for the feet and lower legs.
At the heart of the treatment is the Kansa Vatki, a small metal bowl. Metals are extensively used in Ayurvedic treatments. Copper and Tin are the major constituents of the authentic Kansa Vatki bowl. Copper may help in reducing pain, inflammation and Tin is believed to be helpful in digestion, relieving headaches and insomnia.
The treatment begins by cleansing the feet and legs, then, slowly and methodically the toes, feet, ankles and calves are massaged with either coconut oil, ghee, or other oils to help induce relaxation. The massage itself involves a specific sequence working on the feet and lower limbs. The treatment continues with special moves performed with the ‘Kansa Vatki’ bowl with particular emphasis on marma points on the feet, (Indian acupressure).
This soothing session helps to draw out excess heat, and toxins, thereby leaving the entire body cool, refreshed and induces tremendous relaxation. The treatment lasts for about an hour and can be taken alone but combines well with a reiki wellness treatment.
