Reiki Wellness

Reiki is a traditional Japanese healing technique that works with the body’s natural energy fields to aid in relaxation, stress reduction, physical, emotional, and psychological healing to relax, rebalance and restore your state of wellness. It activates the body’s natural healing process improving the flow of energy allowing the body to heal from within.


Energy healing has been used for centuries in various cultures and forms. Advocates say it works with the energy fields around the body.


Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or emotional pain, which can cause energy blocks and thereby leading to illness (physical, mental, emotional). A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilised for one’s personal wellness.


Reiki unblocks that energy and restores the flow. Its intent is to facilitate the body’s natural healing process.


Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.


The more open you are to it the easier it will be to receive the benefits of Reiki.


Clients often comment on how comforting and nurturing they find the experience of Reiki to be. The most common experience is a release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

Reiki is cumulative and even people who don’t notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue to have more Reiki wellness sessions. Apart from the immediate experience of the Reiki, clients may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day progresses (eg. a sense of being more centered, less reactive, and often sleeping deeply that evening).

Reiki sessions are generally  ninety minutes, sixty minutes for treatment and thirty minutes for pre and post treatment discussion and reflection. 


I like to allow time before to settle into the Reiki space and time after for feedback and reflection.  When you first arrive and after you have completed your new client form we will have a general chat about your reiki needs and any desired intentions for your Reiki Wellness session.  


It is important that you have scheduled your Reiki Wellness session during a time where you are free from distractions and interruptions, and are able to rest after.  After I explain the process to you, we will begin with you laying down fully clothed on the Reiki table (ideally you will be wearing comfortable clothing) with ambient music playing. During the session I will place my hands lightly (the light touch is non invasive) and intuitively on or above specific areas of your body. It is important to let me know prior to the session if you prefer light touch or no touch.  You may feel heat sensation or a temperature change on various parts of your body I’m working on, you may see colours, have visions or feel waves of sensation through your body, you may even fall asleep. Don’t worry though, you will still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake. Most clients feel a deep sense of relaxation and peace that calms their mind and relaxes their body.  


There is no typical Reiki session, no set protocols or expected outcomes.  If you have a particular injury, I will hold my hands just above the injury to avoid direct contact. While I hold my hands lightly on or over your body, the transfer of energy takes place. Each hand position is held until I intuitively sense that the energy has stopped flowing. When I feel that the energy in my hands has abated, I will remove my hands and may place them over a different area of the body. You may feel the heat, coolness or energy flow during the session.  


After your Reiki session, and depending on how you’re feeling we can chat about your Reiki experience and I can provide feedback on my experience in sending you Reiki. Or may want to just allow your Reiki experience to simmer and integrate. You are more than welcome to contact me when the time feels right to chat about your experience. 


**Note : It is important to be aware that reiki will go where it needs to and do what it needs to for your highest good. Reiki energy has universal innate intelligence. Sometimes it can bring to the surface emotions that you may have suppressed or avoided facing but requires you to process. If you do experience this it is important to let me know and I can work together and support you through the process.


Reiki Therapists often suggests that if you have never experienced reiki or it has been a long time since you've had reiki treatment, four weekly reiki wellness sessions is strongly recommended. This is to build up your energy levels and restore flow and balance, and allow for integration to occur.  After this course of sessions, a monthly maintenance schedule is suggested to retain a sense of balance and well-being.  These are only recommendations based on client feedback.  You are welcome to schedule your sessions as you see fit there are no "rules".  


  •  Schedule a time where you will not be interrupted  or distracted (allow up to 90 mins)
  • Be sure to be wearing comfortable clothing.
  • Your phone should be on mute and not vibrate during the session.
  • Have an open mindset to receiving Reiki energy and have no expectations of what the session will be. Just be open to receive and allow yourself to relax.
